BIRMINGHAM - AL -  A Birmingham area man is charged with hitting and killing an expectant mother with his car. It happened in Douglas County, Georgia Wednesday.

"She was very happy. She had just got good news about expecting," Iesha Davis, Pitt's daughter said.

Investigators say 23 year old Dewey Calhoun Green rear-ended 53 year old Janice Pitts' car.

When she got out to check for damage, he drove his Chevy Silverado into her pinning her between the vehicles.

The woman's daughter, Iesha Davis and her four year old son watched it happen.

"I'm banging on the window, 'Please, you're crushing my mom, you're crushing my mom. Please, you're crushing my mom. He wouldn't look at me, He kept his face straight and kept his foot down on the gas,'

Then police say he ran over her and tried to leave the scene, but was stopped by witnesses. Davis says her mother is a two time breast cancer survivor.

"I'll never ever get the image of my mom lifeless body lying on the pavement and the man ran her over like she was nothing," Davis said.

Investigators say the suspect's address is in a townhome community along Rocky Ridge. No one answered the door, and friends and family declined interviews. But on his Facebook page - messages of love and encouragement. Many of his friends said they're confused, but praying for him and the situation.

The Douglas County Sheriff says Green was under the influence of alcohol and will undergo drug testing.

"He could be charged with feticide depending on how far along," Stan Copeland with Douglas County police said.

Green  is charged with murder, aggravated assault, and battery. More charges could be coming. He's being held in the Douglas County Jail with no bond.
