TUSCALOOA COUNTY - AL - The Tuscaloosa Police Department announced Tuesday the arrest of two teenagers and one other minor on animal cruelty charges.

According to a release, officers were called to the 2000 block of East 4th Street to investigate a report of several teens allegedly throwing kittens into the the air before hitting and kicking the animals. There were also reports of the minors trying to bury the kittens alive, police said.

Upon their arrival, officers confronted three suspects -- who were ages 12, 14 and 15 -- and later found probable cause to arrest the juveniles. The minors were released into the custody of their parents on appearance agreements.

The kittens, one of which had to be euthanized due to injuries sustained in the incident, were recovered and placed into the custody of animal control.
