Crime Stoppers June 28: Mother witnesses son's 2011 killing

Franklin Little was shot in the alley near his home. It was a Sunday in 2011. Since then, there have been no arrests. That's why detectives are bringing up the case, again. But they need more information from the public.

"I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper.

Franklin Little and his mother were coming home from the store when a group of men were waiting in the alley.

It happened late Sunday, March 20, 2011, near the victim's home along Fulton Avenue Southwest. Franklin and his mother were driving through the alley when they came under fire. Franklin got out of the car and was struck several times. His mother was shot in the arm. She survived, but her son was killed.

A witness saw three suspects running from the alley with guns after the shooting. They had to abandon their car when it got stuck in the mud. Detectives haven't been able to find the owner of the car, but we're confident someone knows where the car's owner is hiding out.

Someone knows the real story about why Little was ambushed. In order to get real justice for this man, you need to speak up.

If you call Crime Stoppers, I assure you that you will remain anonymous. Crime Stoppers will only know you by a private code number. And if your tip leads to an arrest, you get a cash reward.

So think about Little, and think about what his mother has been through. And understand that if you've heard anything about this case, it's up to you to help us hold the killers accountable. Crime Stoppers is waiting for your call.

With Crime Stoppers, I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper."

You can reach Crime Stoppers anytime by phone at 205-254-7777 or by texting the word "CRIMES" with your tip to 7777.

NOTE: You will remain anonymous no matter which method you contact Crime Stoppers. Each tipster receives a private code number, which you can use to claim a cash reward should your tip lead to an arrest. Crime Stoppers cannot call tipsters to testify in court.
