ALDOT announces planned lane closures on I-459 North and South

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Alabama Department of Transportation announced plans for lane closures in both directions on Interstate 459 to perform asphalt-paving operations in Jefferson County.

The lane closures will occur as followed, weather permitting:

I-459 South

Start date/time:  Sunday, June 8, 7 p.m.

End date/time:  Monday, June 9, 6 a.m.

Note:  During this time, the southbound center and outside lanes of I-459 from the US-31 Interchange (milepost 13.92) to the AL 150 Interchange (milepost 11.05) will be closed to perform paving operations. The same procedure will be utilized southbound the following four nights – thru Friday, June 13 at 6 a.m.

I-459 North

Start date/time:  Sunday, June 8, 7 p.m.

End date/time:  Monday, June 9, 6 a.m.·

Note:  The northbound outside lane of I-459 from the AL 150 Interchange (milepost 11.05) to the US-31 Interchange (milepost 13.92) will be closed to perform shoulder work. The same procedure will be utilized the following four nights - thru Friday June 13 at 6 a.m.

Motorists are encouraged to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival and departure times, observe work-zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution while traveling through the aforementioned areas.
