Crime Stoppers June 7: Tips needed in 2012 homicide

"I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper.

What we believe may have been a direct attack on 39-year-old Randell Sanders ends in a life lost. Sanders was killed Friday, November 9, 2012. This is what we know happened.

That morning, a black male suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans walked into the Still Standing Barber Shop. It's on the 500 block of Oporto Madrid Boulevard North. The suspect shot Sanders multiple times. Sanders died. Robbery does not appear to be a motive because the suspect didn't say anything before shooting Sanders. The suspect ran from the crime scene up a nearby alley.

So that's it. Do you want to leave it at that? Or do you want to see the killer held accountable? My officers are pounding the pavement, and they turned up the information I just shared. Now it's time for you to turn up some of your own.

Just dial 205-254-7777 to submit a tip. And remember Crime Stoppers will keep you anonymous. Crime Stoppers cannot call you to testify in court. So you have nothing to lose.

And finally there can be justice for Randell Sanders.

With Crime Stoppers, I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper."
