BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- A funeral will be held today for Jim Limbaugh, a longtime staple in the Birmingham business community who passed away earlier this week.

Limbaugh, who owned and operated Jim Limbaugh Chevrolet in west Birmingham, died Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at Elmwood Chapel at 11 a.m., followed by a burial at Elmwood Cemetery.

Limbaugh got his start in the car industry in 1951, when he landed a job at Fred Goad Motors, which was a Birmingham-area Mercury dealership. He moved on to become a very successful salesman at both Maring-Crawford Ford and Edwards Chevrolet in Talladega. He returned home to open his Chevy dealership in 1973, running the business for 23 years while serving on various automotive industry boards and councils. In 1991, he was named Time Magazine Quality Dealer of Alabama.

Limbaugh is survived by his wife, three children, two step-children, 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
