Letters going to Bush Middle School parents about mold

Posted: Updated:
BIRMINGHAM - AL - Bush Middle School parents will soon get letters from Birmingham City Schools explaining steps taken to remove mold. Earlier in the month, there was concern about mold found inside the school.

On May 13, parents made the school aware of possible mold issues at Bush Middle School.

The school system says it immediately started working with the Jefferson County Department of Health to inspect and remove a "dollar" size amount. It was found in a locked closet. The contaminated tile was removed and replaced.

“One of our highest priorities at Birmingham City Schools is the health and safety of our students. Our quick and thorough action in addressing the health concerns raised by parents underscores our commitment to ensuring that our students are educated in a healthy, safe and nurturing
environment ,” said Ronnie Leonard, Birmingham City Schools’ Chief Operating Officer.

School officials are calling it an isolated incident.
