BCRI offering free admission for Memorial holiday

BIRMINGHAM - AL - The long, holiday weekend can be a time for reflection.  That is why several museums and parks often offer free admission.  The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) is offering that ability for the Memorial Day holiday.  The BCRI will participate in Blue Star Museums to offer free admission to the nation's active duty military personnel including National Guard and Reserve and their families from May 26 through Labor Day, September 1, 2014.

Blue Star Museum in a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America.  Our nation's service members, including National Guard and Reserve, and their families can enjoy the museum, admission-free.

There are several locations participating as a Blue Star Museum.  In Birmingham, McWane Science Center is also participating.  Tuscaloosa has the Paul W. Bryant Museum and Tuscaloosa Museum of Art offering free admission for the holiday.
