Birmingham school leaders to vote on resolution for millage tax hike

Posted: Updated:
The Birmingham School Board will vote Monday on a resolution that would clear the way for a 3-millage property tax increase for schools.
ABC 33/40 has learned the money, which would come up to more than $7.8 million a year, would go toward supporting additional Pre-K, fine arts and career academies. If a resident owns a house worth $100,000, the individual could expect pay roughly $30 in additional taxes each year.
Stay with ABC 33/40 for more on the vote, what the district needs and how residents feel about the possible increase that could end up on a ballot as early as this year.
