ABC 33/40 lost a beloved member of its family Wednesday night. Orzelle Spencer passed away at DCH Medical Center after battling several health issues. He was 64.

Orzelle worked in local television for 40 years. He started

at WCFT in August of 1969. He worked behind the scenes and in front of the camera, serving in a variety of roles that ranged from programming director to weathercaster. When WCFT merged with WJSU in 1996 he became an original member of the ABC 33/40 family.

A humble man with a great sense of humor, Orzelle's smile was infectious. He could make you feel better just by looking at you. He was a devout Christian and a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Moundville. He served the church as its minister of music for 42 years.

He is survived by two brothers and their families.
