Funeral arrangements announced for slain Birmingham police officer

Birmingham , AL - The Birmingham Police Department released funeral arrangement plans today for one of its officers who was fatally shot last weekend.

Officer Keary Hollis, who was shot and killed while off duty Saturday night on Bush Boulevard in Ensley, will be laid to rest this weekend. A viewing has been planned for Friday between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Home. A service will be held Saturday at the Greater New Antioch Baptist Church in Ensley beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a burial at Elmwood Cemetery.

The Birmingham Police Department's Chaplains Corp will partner with various organizations in the community to host a candle light vigil for Hollis Wednesday night. The vigil, which will be held at the West Precinct located at 616 19th Street Ensley, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Police have arrested 40-year-old Patrick Johnson in connection with the shooting. He is currently being held without bond.
