HOOVER, Ala. -- An elderly Hoover man has been charged in connection with a fatal accident on Interstate 459 North in Hoover last week that killed a construction worker, police announced today.

Arnold Ray Moore, 84, is charged with one felony county of leaving the scene of an accident after he allegedly struck and killed a Cullman man during the early-morning hours of May 2. The victim -- 58-year-old Randy Berry -- died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

A short time after fleeing the accident location, Moore was located by Hoover police officers and questioned about the incident. He was later released.

On Wednesday, an arrest warrant was obtained against Moore and he was arrested today. He is awaiting transfer to the Jefferson County Jail, where he will be held on a $10,000 bond.
