Jefferson County, AL - UPDATE: Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Andre Devon Morgan surrendered Tuesday evening at Jefferson County Jail

Deputies believe Morgan shot an off-duty Birmingham police officer Monday night at the officer's home in Pinson.

He is charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and attempted murder. Bond is $175,000.

An off-duty Birmingham police officer was shot during a domestic dispute Monday evening.
Jefferson County deputies and Palmerdale paramedics responded to the call around 8 o'clock and found a man shot in his residence.

Preliminary investigation shows that a married woman was visiting the officer's home in the 5000 block of Gold Leaf Lane. While there, her husband showed up and knocked on the door. When the officer opened the door, the suspect fired, striking him 3 times; once in a hand, back, and lower body.

The suspect fled in a car and is still at-large.

The 37-year-old officer is getting treated at UAB. His injuries do not appear life-threatening.

The woman was unharmed.
