Man claiming to be associate pastor accused of sexually assaulting 13 year old inside church

A 58-year-old Pleasant Grove man is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl inside a church near Hueytown.

Tyrone Banks, 58, of Pleasant Grove faces charges of Rape by Forcible Compulsion and Sodomy 1st Degree. He was arrested May 2 and posted $120,000 bond. Banks was was released May 4.

Authorities said the victim spent the evening with Banks April 12. Banks is a family friend. That evening, the suspect allegedly drove near Hueytown to a church where he claimed to be an associate pastor. Investigators said he had a key to the church and took the victim inside to the kitchen where he sexually assaulted her. He then drove the victim home. The victim told her mother what had happened, and they reported the incident to police.

Arrest warrants were obtained for Banks April 30.

    Investigators in Gadsden said a man strangled his ex-girlfriend Tuesday evening before stabbing another man to death. Officers arrested 30-year-old William D'Angelo McKinney Wednesday night. He faces charges for murder and domestic violence with strangulation. Police said McKinney went to his ex-girlfriend's home in the Mill Village area and let himself in. Investigators said she asked him to leave, but he shoved her and then put her in a headlock until she blacked out.More >>
