PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama teenager who called himself a white supremacist and was accused of plotting to attack classmates with homemade explosives has pleaded guilty and wants probation.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports (http://bit.ly/1pWxcYE) that court records released this week show that Derek Shrout pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted assault.

Shrout, now 19, was arrested in January 2013 after a history teacher found a notebook that authorities say contained plans to use explosives to attack students at Russell County High School in eastern Alabama. The school is about 15 miles southwest of Columbus, Ga.

The newly released court records indicate that Shrout is requesting five years' probation and a fine of $2,000, but the severity of his sentence will be up to Circuit Judge Al Johnson on July 11.
