Ensley house fire sends one to hospital with life-threatening injuries; dog rescued

A house fire in Ensley on Saturday sent one person to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Firefighters also rescued a dog from the home. ENSLEY, Ala. -- A house fire in Ensley on Saturday sent one person to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, ABC 33/40 reporter Sarah Snyder has learned.

The fire broke out shortly before 11 a.m. at the intersection of 28th Street and Avenue T, where Birmingham firefighters found one person inside suffering from smoke inhalation. A dog was also rescued from the burning home without injury.

The fire is believed to have started on the second floor of the home. The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time as an investigation remains ongoing.
