BIRMINGHAM- AL - Several people were rushed to the hospital Friday morning after an accident involving a BJCTA MAX Transit bus in downtown Birmingham.

Police were called to 3rd Avenue North and 17th street, where a four-door sedan had struck the side of a bus. The bus driver and nine passengers were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

According to witnesses at the scene, the driver of the car appeared to be at fault as the bus had the right of way at the time of the collision.

This is the second accident this week involving a MAX bus. One person was hurt Monday when the driver of a white pickup truck ran a red light and hit a bus, causing it to overturn. No word on if any charges will be filed in connection with the crashes.
