UPDATE: Woman's body found inside motel room in east Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Police are conducting a death investigating in east Birmingham after a woman's body was discovered in a motel room late Friday morning, ABC 33/40 has learned. Lieutenant Sean Edwards says, at this time, the case is an unclassified death.

Authorities were called to the Motel 8 Inn on in the 5000 block of 1st Avenue North around 11:30 a.m. after a maintenance worker found a woman's body inside one of the rooms.

Edwards says her body has been taken to the coroner.

    The Jefferson County Sheriff's department is looking for 48 year old Michael Kennedy. He's wanted on several charges after allegedly setting his ex-girlfriend on fire. Just after 2:30 this morning deputies respond to a report of a house fire in the 4400 block of Nellie Anderson Street.
