Shelby County mom expected in court next week

SHELBY COUNTY - AL - Prosecutors in Shelby County have asked a judge to require an Alabaster mother to undergo random drug and alcohol screenings.
Sommer Wilford is charged with reckless murder in the death of her son, Jayden Brodie Allen. His body was found in a burnt car that crashed on Kent Dairy Road on February 28,2014.  Wilford was not hurt. According to new court documents, prosecutors say she was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the crash. Prosecutors say Wilford poses a real danger to herself and others. Wilford is out of jail on a $30,000 bond.

The judge has set a hearing in the matter for April 29, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
