TUSCALOOA COUNTY - AL -

Deputies, along with homicide and CID investigators were called to the 4300 block of Virginia Drive Thursday in regards to a stabbing.

When they arrived, they found at least two people hurt. Deputies say a 39-year-old woman had cuts to her hands and a small puncture wound to her left side. Deputies also made contact with a 39-year-old man who had a large puncture wound to his right forearm. Both were taken to DCH for treatment. Deputies then spoke to several witnesses in the area who advised them that a 37-year-old female had stabbed the man and woman after a fight. Deputies then took the 37-year-old woman into custody. After interviewing her and witnesses, investigators determined that Chawanda Charles had entered the 37-year-old woman's house after being asked to leave and physically attacked the woman with a beer bottle. The unidentified woman suffered a cut under her right eye. Investigators say the 39-year-old man was hurt when he attempted to stop the incident. Deputies placed Charles under arrest for burglary and she is being held in the Tuscaloosa County jail under a$30,000. 00 bond.

The case is still under investigation and investigators anticipate other parts of this incident will be presented to the Tuscaloosa County grand jury.
