Dozens of high paying jobs are on the way to the community of Vance in Tuscaloosa County. Governor Robert Bentley helped welcome Toyota Boshoku America.
The company produces interior auto parts, such as seats and carpet and it will be a direct supplier for the 5th secret automobile which Mercedes has yet to unveil.
Boshoku has already hired two workers, including Belinda Walker who was an unemployed engineer looking for work. "I'm actually working out of the Mississippi plant. I've been to Germany. I've been to Mexico. I've done a lot of things to get me ready for this position."
The Vance plant will be set up in 45,000-square-foot warehouse space off of Brose Drive, which is about a quarter-mile from the Mercedes plant.
Eventually the company will employee 36 people. Boshoku did not ask for any of the state or local incentives which typically company's seek for locating in a particular area. Governor Bentley says Boshoku is a perfect business for Alabama's trained workforce. "These are the type of jobs that we're training for in Alabama. These are the ones we're encouraging students and parents across the state to encourage their children to get involved with."
The positions will include manufacturing, quality and production control type jobs. It was perfect timing for Walker. "I was going to school, getting my skills back up to par. They called me in. A head-hunter found me, called me and pretty much hired me on the spot."
Toyota Boshoku will begin taking applications May 1, 2014. Anyone interested may contact Nancy Entrekin at Excelsior Staffing in McCalla,Alabama... 205-815-0776.
