Lockdown Lifted at Owasso Schools After Pharmacy Robbery

Posted: Updated:

Schools in Owasso were locked down Thursday morning after an armed robbery at a local pharmacy.

Police were notified of the crime around 8:30 a.m. at the CVS on 12902 East 96th Street North. This was after a man reportedly entered the store and demanded prescription drugs.

A release from the Owasso Police Department stated that the suspect indicated he had a firearm. And then left the area on foot after the robbery.

School officials were notified and made the decision to place the seven schools on lockdown around 9 a.m. The lockdown was lifted just before 11 a.m.

KTUL learned that the schools were on external lockdown at the time. That means that the children could freely move around inside the school buildings.

School officials added that state testing was not disrupted during the incident this morning. Owasso Police continue to search for the suspect.
