Nearly 100 people were rescued overnight after flooding in and near the Lakeshore Garden apartment complex in Homewood.

The Homewood Fire Chief John Bresnan says crews used boats to carry people out of the complex, and he reports no injuries.

The Red Cross has opened up a temporary shelter for displaced tenants at the Dawson Memorial Baptist Church on Oxmoor Rd.

Several residents tell ABC 33/40 their valuables are a complete loss, including passports, identification cards and laptops. Some also say their renter's insurance does not cover flood damage.

Stay with ABC 33/40 for more on this developing story.
