WALKER COUNTY, Ala. -- Authorities have found and recovered the body of a man who went missing in the Black Warrior River in Walker County after an extensive, 10-day search, Alabama Marine Police confirmed to ABC 33/40 Tuesday.

According to marine police, the body of 53-year-old Danny McCleskey, who went missing the night of March 22 after falling into the water while changing a light on a barge, was found in a remote area along the river around 1 p.m.

Details surrounding the discovery weren't immediately made available. Several local law enforcement agencies assisted in the search efforts, which began just hours after McCleskey's disappearance.

The victim's daughter, Dianna Parker, released the following statement on behalf of her family:

"The family would like to thank all volunteers, officer Darren Paris of Marine Police, Smith Lake Task Force and Tutwiler Fire Department for their hard work and constant support of the family during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements are being finalized and the family has requested in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the "Danny McCleskey Memorial Fund" at any Wells Fargo bank location."
