Gadsden police capture inmate who escaped from court during bathroom break

GADSDEN, Ala. -- Authorities have captured a man who escaped custody during a court appearance Thursday, Gadsden police confirmed to ABC 33/40.

David Jones, 36, was apprehended at an area McDonald's less than a day after he fled Gadsden Municipal Court with a sweater over his handcuffs during a bathroom break.

Jones, who was in court to face charges of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude, resisting arrest and public intoxication, was taken back into custody without further incident.

US Marshals assisted in the search for Jones.
