Ansal University, Gurgaon, a private university with strong international collaborations dedicated to providing advanced trans-disciplinary education and Valparaiso University, one of the top five regional universities in Midwest USA jointly hosted a 2-day International Conference on Strategy, Innovation & Technology (ICSIT 2014). ICSIT-2014 represents a broad theme which encompasses various sub-themes of contemporary interest. The dynamic business environment has led to the emergence of various business models based on Strategy, Innovation and Technology. The conference is an endeavor to reiterate the growing need for organizations to give emphasis to technology and innovation in their work environment.

The conference witnessed the presence of various distinguished dignitaries such as Dr. Bakul Dholakia, Former Director IIMA (Chief Guest), Dr. Shekhar Chaudhuri, Former Director, IIM Calcutta, Mr. Chetan Bijesure, Director, FICCI (Guest of Honour), Prof. Jaishankar Raman, Assistant Provost for International Affairs (Valpo, USA), Prof. Rick AmRhein, Chief Information Officer (Valpo, USA), Prof. Amitabh Kundu, Dean, School of Social Sciences, JNU, Dr. Jim Brodzinski, Dean College of Business (Valpo, USA), Prof. CV Baxi, Former Director MDI, Mr. Sunil Dutt, Former MD, Research in Motion (RIM) and Prof. Pete Johnson, Chair of Mechanical Engineering (Valpo, USA), Dr. Surajit Mitra, Director, IIFT among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. C.S. Nagpal, Vice-Chancellor, Ansal University said “At Ansal University, we aim to provide our students with futuristic education which will equip them for real world problems. In these modern times, strategy, innovation and technology are the three key pillars for a company seeking to differentiate itself from others and for an economy to be globally competitive. India, famous for its information technology industry, is losing ground as an innovation hub. Our country ranking has dipped in the Global Innovation Index Report 2013 (survey done by INSEAD Cornell University) to the 66th rank. Innovation is a mindset when you cut it across talent and culture. The conference will bring forth the challenges faced by multi-national companies in different nations and the techniques/strategies used to overcome challenges.”

According to Dr. Jim Brodzinski, Dean-School of Business, Valparaiso University, “We are excited with our association with a forward looking institution like Ansal University. These days, technology is a Business Driver, more than half of organizations in IDG survey responded that their CEO promotes technology as a critical/high priority for driving business innovation. Strategy, Innovation and Technology can be seen as three enmeshing gears which provide the necessary traction to a company to achieve a competitive advantage and a country to progress towards sustainable development. Through the conference we look forward to learn from the best practices and the experiences of experts from different sectors.”

Academicians, Research Scholars, Management Students of B-Schools and Corporate/Industry delegates were invited to contribute their research papers and case studies in the Conference.
