Birmingham, AL -

We all know that stress isn't good for your health; now, new research suggests stress may increase a woman's risk of infertility.
Researchers looked at levels of an enzyme linked with stress in the saliva of women who were trying to get pregnant and tracked them more than 12 months. They collected data from about 500 couples.
Ohio State University College of Medicine researchers found women with higher levels of the stress bio-marker had a two-fold increased risk of infertility.
The enzyme they measured is called salivary alpha-amylase.
The study results appear in the journal Human Reproduction.
