A McCalla man is at the Jefferson County Jail in connection to a burglary case. Just after 3:00 a.m. March 19, sheriff deputies were called to a home in the 7100 block of Bradford Road. The victim told deputies that the door to the home had been forced open and electronics and other items had been stolen.
Later that morning, sheriff's detectives went back to the home to follow up on the investigation. As they were driving to the home, the noticed Richard Alexander Coleman walking nearby. The 20 year old was out of jail on bond for a previous theft charge. Detectives stopped to question him about the burglary. Coleman lived just down the street from the victim. He later admitted to committing the burglary and stealing the items.
Coleman is at the Jefferson County Jail on a $15,000 bond. He's charged with third degree burglary and two counts of second degree property theft.
