LEEDS, Ala. -

A Leeds couple has been sentenced in a September 2012 dog attacked that killed their 83 year old neighbor.  Jerry and Jacqueline Lenton were sentenced Wednesday in St. Clair County Circuit Court.  Jerry Lenton pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was given a 10 year split sentence.  He's ordered to spend a year and one day in prison and five years probation.

Jacqueline Lenton pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and was given a suspended one year sentence.  She was also ordered to spend two years on probation.  Investigators say two of the couple's Rottweilers attacked Don Thomas when he went to check his mail.  Police shot the two dogs involved in the attack and seized many more from their home.
