Plenty of star power on Alabama all-star roster

Posted: Updated:

Wenonah and Shades Valley will be well represented at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star basketball series.

Both schools have multiple players set to play in the girls game. Wenonah's Jameka Holmes and Aja Holmes, and Fran Tyson and Morgan William of Shades Valley will be part of the squad that take on the Mississippi All-Stars later this month.

The Sparkman girls and the Carver-Montgomery boys also have two players in the game.

Wenonah's Emanuel Bell is one of the Alabama coaches

The girls roster includes Sylacauga's Shakayla Thomas, Destiney Elliott of Oneonta and Woodland's Leah Strain.

The Alabama boys all-stars will be coached by Parker's Reginald McGary and Midfield's Darrell Barber. Both coaches led their teams to state championships this past season.

Parker's Marquell Oliver is the only Birmingham area player on the boys roster.

The Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Basketball games will be played at the Lee E. Williams Athletics & Assembly Center on the campus of Jackson State University on March 21. The girls are scheduled to tip off at 5 p.m. and the boys game is set for 7.
