FORT BENNING, Ga. (AP) - A memorial service is planned for Friday at Georgia's Fort Benning to remember a military serviceman who was killed while skydiving near Eloy, Ariz.
Federal Aviation Administration officials say the accident occurred on Feb. 21.
The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports (http://bit.ly/1hqoc78) that Master Sgt. Josh Gavulic, a 16-year veteran with 10 deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, was a tactical air control party member assigned to the 17th Special Tactics Squadron at Fort Benning.
The parachuting accident remains under investigation. Authorities have said he struck the door while exiting the jump aircraft at about 10,000 feet.
The Georgia service will be held at 3 p.m. at the Main Post Chapel at the Georgia Army base.
