Mountain Brook beats Carver to advance to 6A title game

Mountain Brook basketball is a win away from it's second straight 6A championship.

The Spartans put away Carver-Montgomery with a hot fourth quarter and a 49-38 semifinal win. Mountain Brook will play Blount for the 6A title on Friday night at 7.

Tawarren Grant and Alex Peters each scored 11 for the Spartans, who beat Carver in the semifinal for the second consecutive year.

Mountain Brook led 24-21 at halftime but the Wolverines scored the first nine points of the third quarter to jump up 30-24. The Spartans outscored Carver 25-8 the rest of the way.

    Auburn and Clemson have agreed to a two-game series beginning in 2016.
