Forestdale man arrested for trafficking marijuana

FORESTDALE - AL -

Jefferson County deputies say a call from a repossession agent led to the arrest of a Forestdale man for trafficking.

Deputies were called to Devine Drive late Saturday night to investigate a theft of vehicle from a repossession agent. The agent told deputies he had been trying to pick up a truck. Once he had loaded the truck on a lift, a man came from the house, unloaded the truck and drove off. Deputies arrived and made contact with the victim who indicated the suspect had come from inside the house. It was believed the suspect had taken the truck to a hiding place and then returned to the house on foot. Deputies knocked on the door to the house and a man answered the door. He told them that the suspect did not live there and had left before they arrived. Deputies asked if they could check the house to make sure he was no longer there. The man agreed and let them inside. Deputies found cocaine, prescription drugs, and more than four pounds of marijuana. Deputies also found a shotgun, handgun  and cash.

Deputies then arrested 39-year-old Marcus Ellington. He is now facing charges of trafficking marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held in the Jefferson County jail. The original suspect was not located.
