Explorer competition at UM

A competition for law enforcement explorers will take place at the University of Montevallo, February 22, 2014.  According to the Shelby County Sheriffs Office, "the Alabama Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor Association (ALEEAA) promotes Learning for Life Law Enforcement Exploring by providing an annual competition." The 2014 Law Enforcement Explorer Competition is for young people ages 14-20. 

Explorer Posts include Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, Birmingham P.D., Dalton P.D., GA, Helena P.D., Hoover P.D., Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Pensacola P.D., FL, and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. The explorers will be compete in Burglary Response, Arrest & Search, Crisis Negotiation, Crime Scene Investigation, Domestic Crisis Intervention, Traffic Stop, Traffic Accident Investigation and Bomb Response.
 
The competition takes place after the explorer trains with a specific department throughout the year.  Guest judges include law enforcement officials from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Alabama State Troopers, Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Montevallo Police Department, Birmingham Police Department, and ABC Board. 
 
Awards will be presented at 5PM.
