JeffCo settles with former Cooper Green Hospital CEO

BIRMINGHAM - AL -

Jefferson County and the former CEO of Cooper Green Mercy Hospital are finally parting ways for good. The legal battle has ended with the approval of a 250 thousand dollar settlement.

Dr. Sandral Hullett will be paid that sum. It includes one year's salary plus other expenses.

Hullett lost her job in December 2012 when Cooper Green transitioned from a hospital to an urgent care center. At the time, Commissioners said it didn't make sense to keep a hospital director when there was no hospital to run. But Hullett fought to get her job back.

Thursday, the commission approved the 250 thousand dollar settlement.

"All parties have reached an agreement. Dr. Hullett is satisfied. I'm satisfied. I think Jefferson County should hurry and dispense this money to Dr. Hullett," said Jefferson County Commissioner Sandra Little Brown.

Hullett was one of 210 employees laid off as a result of the initial Cooper Green transition.
