BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Two Adamsville men have been charged in connection with a robbery at Birmingport Grocery in west Jefferson County, the sheriff's office said Tuesday.

Jason Hubbard, 32, and William Green, 33, are both charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree theft of property for their alleged roles in the afternoon robbery on Feb. 7.

According to a release, Hubbard entered the store around 3 p.m., pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money while Green waited outside in a getaway vehicle. The clerk handed over an unknown amount of cash and both suspects fled the location.

After getting a description of the suspects' vehicle while reviewing surveillance video, deputies issued a BOLO for the SUV and it was located on Shady Grove Road a short time later. Both men were taken into custody for questioning, at which time Hubbard admitted to the robbery, revealing he used a pellet gun to threaten the clerk while demanding money. Green refused to answer any questions.

Both men were booked into the Jefferson County Jail on $75,000 bonds.
