Grayson Valley pedestrian killed

No charges will be filed in the case of a deadly pedestrian accident in Grayson Valley.   Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car in the 5600 block of Chalkville Mountain Road near Grayson Valley Drive just after 6:00 p.m. Sunday.  Blanca Canales, 50, was pronounced dead on the scene.  Investigators say she was jogging across the road when she was hit by a car.

Investigators tell us, the driver never saw her, he reported he just heard something; knew he had hit something; and stopped.  The driver reportedly remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Authorities say this appears to be a tragic accident.

    Birmingham Police detectives are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was shot Friday in the 1200 Block of Pine View Road.The man's identity has not been released pending notification of immediate family. On Friday around 4:50 p.m., West Precinct Officers responded to the location and found the victim lying face down in the street suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.
