The Birmingham City Council approved a two-month amnesty period for unpaid traffic, parking, and non-moving tickets.

The amnesty period started Monday, February 3, and runs through March 31.

During the amnesty period, the Municipal Court will extend hours of operation to 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. MOnday through Friday.

Starting on March 1, the courts will also be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Domestic violence, DUI, and drug-related offenses are excluded from the amnesty program.

No amnesty will be awarded after March 31; and efforts to serve warrants will increase.
