Posted: Updated:

Alabama will begin the season in Baseball America's preseason top 25.

The Crimson Tide is No. 21 in the rankings and one of eight SEC teams in the preseason top 25.

South Carolina (7th), Mississippi State (8th), LSU (9th), Vanderbilt (10th), Florida (23rd), Texas A&M (24th) and Arkansas (25th) are also ranked by Baseball America.

The Virginia Cavaliers is No. 1.

Alabama returns most of the group that advanced to the Tallahassee Regional last season. Coach Mitch Gaspard said the Tide has "80 percent" of their innings pitched and six everyday starters including shortstop Mikey White, who attended high school at Spain Park.

Alabama opens the season at home against St. Louis on Feb. 14. The Tide's first six games are at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
