Posted: Updated:

Birmingham Police are investigating some sort of stabbing.  Although they are not yet sure where it happened, the victim was found in a car parked in the median of Interstate 59 North.  Just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday, an off-duty officer saw the vehicle off the side of the road and reportedly stopped to check on the driver.

A sergeant with Birmingham Police tells ABC 33/40 that the victim was passed out when the off-duty officer made first contact.  However, we've also learned that the victim was not talking to police.  Investigators were unable to get any sort of information about who attacked the man.  He had lacerations on his arm.  Although not life threatening, he was transported to the hospital.

The northbound lanes of the interstate were closed for a little bit, while emergency responders were tending to the victim.  It now open and traffic is running, though.  We will continue to bring you information as this story develops.
