Greg Maddux and Tony La Russa will not have logos on their Hall of Fame plaques.

Both the player and the manager decided it would be too difficult to distinguish one franchise from their hall of fame careers that included multiple teams.

Maddux won 355 games in 23 seasons while pitching for the Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. He's the only pitcher in Major League history to win at least 15 games for 17 consecutive seasons.

"Obviously, I feel like I have more success as a Brave. We did get a World Series there," Maddux told reporters on Thursday. "But I kind of came up a Cub. For me, I couldn't pick. I really couldn't. Both places mean so much to me personally, to my family. I couldn't pick. So I'm going to go in neutral, I guess."

La Russa won 2,728 games in 33 seasons as manager of the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals.

He won a World Series title with the A's in 1989 and with the Cardinals in 2006 and 2011.

Maddux and La Russa are part of six member class that will be enshrined in Cooperstown later this year.

Pitcher Tom Glavine and manager Bobby Cox will enter the hall as Atlanta Braves, manager Joe Torre will represent the New York Yankees, and former Auburn star Frank Thomas will carry the Chicago White Sox logo.

This year's Hall of Fame class will be honored on July 27th.
