Body found in Walker County believed to be missing Warrior man (Update)

WALKER COUNTY, Ala. -- The Walker County Coroner's Office has identified the body found in a wooded-area near Cordova Wednesday as 36-year-old Michael Louis McAvoy, of Warrior, who was reported missing last weekend.

McAvoy's truck was discovered outside a gate in the 500 block of Old Baltimore Road, prompting authorities to launch a search for him. His body was later discovered in the woods around one mile from his truck on a piece of property owned by one of his relatives.

According to the coroner, no foul is suspected in his death. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday morning.

WALKER COUNTY, Ala. -- Authorities is Walker County believe the body found Wednesday is that of a Warrior man who was reported missing last weekend, ABC 33/40 has learned.

Deputies located a truck Sunday outside a gate of a hunting property in the 500 block of Old Baltimore Road, which is in the Cordova area, and it was later determined that the vehicle belong to the missing man. Authorities launched a search by land and air for the missing person and later discovered a body in the woods approximately one mile from the truck.

The county coroner has yet to release the identity of the body.
