CULLMAN COUNTY - AL -

Cullman County Sheriff's Office says the people responsible for 71-year-old Fredrick William Galin's death are in custody.

Three days prior to finding Galin dead in his home, lawmen say  John Edward Cole and Robert Espy, Jr stole his 1966 Chevy Super Sport and killed him.

On January 16, Cole and Espy were arrested and charged with theft and burglary in connection to Galin's death investigation.

Tuesday, Cullman County District Attorney Wilson Blaylock issued arrest warrants charging Cole with murder, four counts of 1st degree burglary, and 1st degree theft of property. Cole's bond is set at $200,000 cash.

Espy is also charged with murder, four counts of 1st degree burglary, and 1st degree theft of property. His bond is set at $75,000 cash.

"I hope these arrests bring a closure to the victim's family and restores a sense of comfort to the community," says Sheriff Mike Rainey.

Galin was last seen alive at Jack's Hamburgers on West Main Street on December 16. He was found dead on December 19 inside his home on St. Joseph Drive in Cullman after a concerned friend called police.

"He was a very generous individual," said Cullman County Sheriff's Office investigator Justin Tyus. "He always had a smile on his face and was very independent."
