It was March 2012 when someone shot and killed Victor Cunningham. Police need to know who that person is, and Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper hopes you have the clues to crack this case.

"I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper.

Someone out there saw something. Someone else has probably heard something, and those people will help determine whether Victor Cunningham's killer is brought to justice.

Here's what we know. It was Monday, March 5, 2012. Police were called to the 900 block of Garden Street. When they got there, Cunningham had been shot several times. He was taken to UAB Hospital but died during surgery.

Officers also found a Chevrolet Caprice in the driveway with bullet holes in it. The driver said he and the victim had just left Platinum club and stopped by a gas station before driving to the house.

The driver said a light-colored vehicle pulled up behind them as they were turning into the driveway and began shooting.

Who was in that vehicle? Who is responsible for killing Cunningham?

If you have that answer, dial 205-254-7777. We won't take your name. We cannot call you to court to testify, and if your call leads to an arrest, you qualify for a cash reward.

To anyone who knows who did this, we have these questions. How much longer are you willing to tolerate this? How can you stay silent and let this killer get away with the crime? You shouldn't worry about retaliation, because Crime Stoppers will keep you anonymous.

Whatever you've heard or seen, finding this man's killer could depend on you.

With Crime Stoppers, I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper."

You can reach Crime Stoppers anytime at (205) 254-7777.

Also, you can text 7777, along with your tip, to the word "CRIMES." Or if you prefer to send an encrypted tip online, go to www.crimestoppersmetroal.com click on the "submit an online tip" link.

No matter which method you choose, you will remain anonymous. Each tipster receives a private code number. If an arrest is made based on an individual's tip, the tipster can use the code number to claim a cash reward.

Crime Stoppers cannot call tipsters to testify in court.
