Police: Officers working for Anniston Housing Authority seize large amount of marijuana

A large amount of marijuana was seized Thursday by officers working for the Anniston Housing Authority, police said on Facebook.

The Anniston Police Department shared a photo of the confiscated weed on its Facebook page around 3:30 p.m. with the following message attached to the post:

"Officers working for the Housing Authority seized this earlier today."

ABC 33/40 reporter Robert Richardson contacted investigators in an attempt to get details surrounding the drug bust, but they declined to release any information until Friday morning.

According to a mission statement on its website, the Anniston Housing Authority offers to "serve the needs of low-income persons" and provide "drug free, decent, safe and sanitary housing for eligible families."
