Birmingham police release surveillance photos of woman leaving suspicious package at downtown bank

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Police have released surveillance photos of a woman suspected of leaving suspicious envelopes at three businesses in downtown Birmingham on Sunday and Monday.

The pictures show a black female depositing an envelope Saturday at 3:13 p.m. in the after-hours deposit box at ServisFirst Bank, which is located at the corner of Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard and 4th Avenue North.

Authorities are still searching for Vera Quarles, a transient woman believed to be in her mid-40s whose name was found on all three packages found around the city. Investigators haven't determined if Quarles is the woman in the surveillance photos.
