The promise of a national championship may have been too good to pass up for Garrick McGee.

He was introduced as Louisville's new offensive coordinator on Monday.

McGee left his job as UAB's head coach to join Bobby Petrino's staff after Petrino called him and said the Cardinals could win a national championship.

"The one thing I asked him was, is there a chance for us to win a national championship? If there is then I'm interested," McGee said at Monday's press conference. "He said this is the one."

McGee had a 5-19 record in two seasons at UAB. Prior to that he worked on Petrino's staff for four seasons at Arkansas. He was the Razorbacks offensive coordinator in 2010 and 2011.

"I'm going to do a really good job," McGee said. "(Petrino's) going to be here so he's not going to get rid of me because I'm going to work my tail off and the people I'm responsible for are going to produce. He's going to be here a long time so I'm going to be here with him."

Louisville is expected to make Todd Grantham as it's new defensive coordinator. He held the same position at Georgia the past four seasons.
