11-year-old girl killed, 4 others taken to hospitals after fire engulfs mobile home in Leeds Wednesday night

An 11-year-old girl was killed and four others were taken to area hospitals Wednesday night after a fire broke out at a mobile home in Leeds, authorities confirmed Thursday.

The fatal blaze started around 10:30 p.m. at a home on Clayton Drive. The mother of the victim and her boyfriend were transported to UAB Hospital to be treated for their injuries while two other children were taken to Children's of Alabama.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time as Leeds police and the fire marshal's office continue to investigate.
