Bessemer police believe 18-year-old Dwayne Mikal Ford robbed a grandmother who was securing her infant grandson into a car. It happened Saturday in Colonial Tannehill Promenade Mall's parking lot.

Police say 3 people pulled alongside the victim's car before a Ford got out of the car, pointed a weapon, and demanded money from the grandmother. She complied and the Ford retreated to the car with money and other items. Police found the trio later in a silver Oldsmobile Alero.

Wednesday, Ford was charged with 1st degree robbery with a $10,000 bond. For now, he is the only person charged in the case.
