The Boeing Company will not set up shop in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM - AL -

The decision is in.

The Boeing Company will not build its Triple 7X aircraft in the state of Alabama.

Last month, Governor Robert Bentley submitted the state's proposal and incentives to the company in hopes of bringing their assembly plant to Huntsville.

Friday, thousands of Boeing machinists braved the cold weather in the state of Washington to vote on a controversial offer. The contract gives up some health care and pension benefits, however, it secures thousands of jobs for the Puget Sound area.

Union officials say members gave up too much and wanted them to reject the deal, while politicians say it's needed to boost the area's economy.

"Boeing announced that the carbon fiber wing assembly and the fuselage assembly work will be done in the state of Washington," Washington Democrat, Jay Inslee, said. "To make that happen, the International Association of Machinists District 751 took a hard vote that deserves the respect of all Washingtonians."

22 states submitted proposals to host the new Boeing plant.
